Collaborative Geospatial Data Strategy for Canada

Canada’s national spatial data infrastructure plays a critical role in ensuring that geospatial data is open, accessible, and usable by Canadians for an ever-widening range of applications for personal, business, research, public sector, and philanthropic purposes. The value of geospatial data – a strategic public asset – only continues to grow with increasing demand for different applications by new users, the exponential growth in the amount of geospatial data, and the development of technologies that enhance the rapid processing, analysis, and integration of huge volumes of data with other data sources.

Within this changing context, determining the future of how geospatial data and information will be created, managed, accessed, and used requires the collaboration of the many producers and users of geospatial data from across society and the economy. Through this questionnaire, we are seeking the perspectives and views of diverse geospatial data producers and users to broaden our understanding of challenges and opportunities to geospatial data management and use in the future.
